Home designers know that the small details are really what pulls any space together, that’s why these top of the fridge decor ideas are going to be your next favorite home decor project. By utilizing extra spaces and nooks around your home, you can tie fun pieces into your decor that really make people stop and look around to take the space in. I love going for simple neutral colors that match my kitchen. The simplicity of the decor helps make the fridge and kitchen space look cleaner with basically no effort.

There’s a few reasons I love decorating the top of my fridge.

  • Creative design, easily adjustable to match the season
  • You can add functional elements that you can use everyday but that still look clean in your space
  • You can use this as a place to add greenery to your home
  • Its a small space to decorate (meaning its easy!)

Anyways, lets get into it.

1. Greenery and Plants

This is one of my favorite ways to bring any space alive – literally. The addition of a small plant can make a room feel calmer and more welcoming and is a great way to spice up the color scheme of your home. I would go with a plant that is relatively hardy, just so you don’t have to worry about it. Succulents or small potted plants like a pothos would be great options here.

If you want to get the look above, you can totally DIY it, or if you’re like me, just buy something similar. This small plant holder is magnetic and does the trick for lighter plants. If you want a larger plant just pot it in a cute container and set it on top of the fridge 🙂

Another great idea here is adding air plants in cute little magnetic container. Going with air plants for your fridge decor is super convenient because you don’t have to water them! You can just mist them or if you live in a pretty humid area, you can kind of just leave them alone.

2. Art and Decorative Objects

Place art or decorative objects on the top of your fridge to add a personal touch to your kitchen. You can use framed photos, artwork, or unique sculptures to reflect your personality and style.

I love the look of a couple of simple objects that having meaning in your household. This could be handmade art or signs, a dried plant from your garden, a living plant you are in love with but needs a new spot in your home, or even fun trinkets you can find at a garage sale or thrift store.

3. Cookbooks

If you’re an avid cook, display your favorite cookbooks on top of the fridge. It not only adds a practical element but also adds a culinary atmosphere to your kitchen.

There are a couple cookbooks I absolutely LOVE that you should check out for your space, and utilize in your cooking! And – if you just love reading in general, here are my favorite books you should definitely check out.

Six Seasons: A New Way With Vegetables

This book is excellent if you are looking to incorporate fresher foods into your diet. These recipes are broken down by 6 different growing seasons for various crops and teach you how to make creative dishes for any season by using the freshest ingredients. This book is also super well made and very aesthetic in any kitchen.

Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat

This cookbook is really about cooking, not recipes. Sounds confusing right? Well, this book breaks down how each component (salt, fat, acid, and heat) works when making a meal. By learning the fundamentals of cooking, you can really experiment and understand why certain recipes call for certain ingredients. The illustrations are fun and make it interesting to read!

4. Wine and Bar Setup

Transform the top of your fridge into a mini wine and bar station. This is a great spot to store wine bottles, glasses, and wine openers. Set it up all cute with small holiday touches and you are done! This makes your space look very mature and can be really fun to entertain guests with the fancy top of the fridge wine bottle!

5. Vintage Decor

Use picture frames with quotes you love or little poloroid photos of all your friends. Antique tins, old kitchen gadgets, or retro signage can be charming additions to the top of your fridge, giving your kitchen a timeless feel.

I love the look the sort of scattered and clean design below shows. This is my favorite way to show a little extra personality and is fun to change out with new things!

6. Baskets and Bins

Utilize decorative baskets or bins to keep your kitchen essentials organized. Store items like kitchen towels, napkins, or even cooking utensils in these containers, which can add a rustic or bohemian touch to your kitchen decor.

This just gives you extra storage space while hiding the things you don’t want to see – in plain sight!

Here are some great storage bins to put on top of your fridge.

7. Seasonal Decor

Change your fridge decor with the seasons. During holidays or special occasions, add themed decorations like wreaths, ornaments, or seasonal figurines to keep your kitchen festive and inviting.

The easiest way to switch your decor out each season is to go to a store like Target and find any small decor things you like. Get them and play with which ones would look good together and return the rest. This also a super fun way to decorate and you can go with friends!

8. Cookware Display

If you have aesthetically pleasing pots and pans, consider hanging them on a pot rack above your fridge. This kind of set up not only saves storage space but also adds a professional, chef-inspired look to your kitchen.

I love the set of knives look as well. This frees up space in your kitchen and utilizes the side of your fridge. If you have younger kids living in the house, avoid this one, but look into getting a hanger for keys or pot holders instead!

Install a chalkboard or whiteboard on the wall above your fridge. You can use it for grocery lists, meal planning, or jotting down recipes.
